is nestled in the central part of Goa and lies about 28km
south-east of Panaji,the capital of Goa.While Margao is just
17km to the north-east. Ponda is the industrial hub of Goa

Panaji-Margao highway and is also well linked to the neighboring

Safa Shahouri Mosque : This is one of the 27 mosques
built by Sultan Ibrahim Adil Shah in Ponda and was built in
1560. This has a small single chambered mosque with the outer
walls being decorated with a masonry minaret having eight-sided
columns.
Mount Carmel Chapel : This is an 18th century chapel
built by the Portuguese .It has dark colored altars, made
of intricately carved wooden structure.
Miraculous Cross : One of the main attractions in Ponda
this is locally known as "Goddar". And on 3rd May,
the Feast of the Holy Cross is celebrated with much reverence.
Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary : A must visit if you are
a nature lover .Thsi sanctuary is nestled on 3000 ft. above
the sea level on the slopes of Western Ghat ranges. Here you
will find a Botanical Garden, fenced deer park and a zoo.
Dudhsagar Waterfalls : This water cascade will leave
you awestruck . The rapturous outburst of water lends it a
milky white appearance thus it got the name Dudhsagar or Ocean
of Milk.

Air : Goa's Dabolim airport is 45 km away from Ponda
Regular flights are available to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore
and other major cities of India from the airport.
Rail : Karmali railway station is at a distance of
17km and Margao railway station is at a distance of 20km.
Road : Ponda is easily accessible by road .National
Highway 4 A linking Panji to Belgaum in Karnataka via Old
Goa, runs through the Ponda .
