Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary in GoaThe Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary in Goa is the smallest wildlife reserve in Goa and is situated 10 km in the north east of Usagao Tisk village. It is 52km from Panaji and 38km from Margao Nestled in the foothills of the Western Ghats at the junction of three Talukas viz. Ponda, Sanguem and Sattari lies the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary has a mini zoo, a deer park, botanical and rose gardens and is a tourist attraction all through the year. Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary can be termed as a jungle resort, hot favorite for school going children and nature lovers. The common animals found in this wildlife sanctuary of Goa are the Gaur and the Sambhar deer. The smallest of the three wildlife sanctuary in Goa, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is just 8 sq. km. in size.

The area is covered with flora like

  -   Moist Deciduous Forests, with small patches of Evergreens and Canes.
  -   Terninalia crenulata (Matti)which is the State Tree
  -   Rosewood
  -   Lagerstroemia (Naked Maiden of the Forest / Nano),
  -   Kindall,
  -   Jamba,
  -   Mimusops,
  -   Saraca indica
  -   Bambusa arundinacea ,the thorny bamboo
  -   Giant Lianas (Entada)

The bird watchers will be pleased to find at Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary hundred species like
  -   Ruby Throated Yellow Bulbul, The State Bird
  -   Common Grey Hornbill
  -   Golden Backed Woodpecker.

The Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary in Goa has a Mini Zoo, Deer Safari Park, Botanical Gardens and Eco-Tourism Cottages.

Zoological Park: Find here animals in their natural surroundings . Animal exhibits include, Panther, Lion, Gaur, Sambar, Deers (Spotted, Hog & Barking ) Sloth Bear, Crocodiles, Reptiles etc.

Deer Safari Park: It has the Sambar and Spotted Deers and you can drive on your vehicle to this park

Rose Gardens: Find landscaped lawns , exotic trees and different kinds of roses, and various hues of flowering plants in the middle of the forest.

Botanical Gardens: With an array of plants , it is much of interest for students.

Nature Education Centre: The NEC has several displays which visitors can see and analyse. Also there is a Library , which provides details ,also video and cine movies are screened on request.

Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary in Goa is connected to Ponda as well as Molem by a good roads and you have tour buses from Margao and Panaji which halt here. Visit the sanctuary in late evenings and nights which are very pleasant.
