The mortal remain of St. Francis Xavier is kept in airtight glass coffin positioned in a silver casket crafted by a 17th century Florentine sculptor, Giovanni Batista Foggini.

It is believed that the body of St. Francis Xavier when was transferred to Goa, it remained as fresh as when it was buried.

And it is with due respect to this, that thousands of devotees are attracted from all over the world and an 'Exposition' or public viewing of his body takes place.
