organizes Goa and South India Holiday package for a duration
fourteen days and thirteen nights. The destinations covered
include Chennai, Mahabalipuram, Kanchipuram, Tanjore, Trichy,
Madurai, Thekkady, Cochin, Goa and Mumbai.
Day 01 - Arrival at Chennai
On your arrival in Chennai, our tour operator will receive
you and assist you in your transfer to the hotel after the
traditional welcome at the airport. Chennai is often touted
as "pure" India in the sense that it has not given
in to the invasions from the North. It has always remained
immune to the encroachment of the invaders from the North.
You will then be assisted by our tour operator with the process
of checking into the hotel where you will be required to spend
the night.
Day 02- Chennai / Mahabalipuram (Mammalapuram ) ( 65 km
/ 1 ½ Hrs. )
The second day of the Goa and South India Holiday will
be divided among sightseeing and exploration of Mammalapuram.
In the morning, we will take up a half day sightseeing tour
covering Fort St. George, San Thome Cathedral and the museums
that showcases the world's most complete and impressive selection
of bronze and stone sculptures that can be traced back to
the Chola period. This is followed by a drive to Mammalapuram.
The origin of this city dates back to the 7th century. Declared
a World Heritage Site, the city boasts of India's some of
the most exquisite rock-cut art. In Mammalapuram, we will
help you to check in to a hotel where you will be spending
the night. .
Day 03 - Mahabalipuram /Kanchipuram /Mahabalipuram ( 65
km / 1 ½ Hrs. )
On the third day your breakfast is followed your sightseeing
tour that will cover sites like the Shore Temple, Arjuna's
Penance & Five Rathas. Next we will be driving to Kanchipuram
which is renowned as the golden city of thousand temples.
Kanchipuram is also revered as one of seven most sacred Hindu
cities of the early Chola Period of the 2nd century. We drive
back to Mahabalipuram where you are required to spend the
night.
Day 04 - Mahabalipuram / Tanjore (300 km / 6 hrs)
We will drive to Tanjore early in the morning. Upon arrival
at Tanjore, we visit Brihadeshwara temple, also known as the
'Big Temple', built by the Chola dynasty. Infact the Brihadeshwara
Temple is the finest contribution of the Chola dynasty to
the Dravidian style of temple architecture. This monumental
temple reaches a height of 216 feet with the single spherical
stone weighing a good 80 tons. Its beautiful murals resemble
the frescos of Ajanta. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 05 - Tanjore / Trichy / Madurai (200 km / 4 hrs)
On the fifth day of the Goa and South India holiday we
will depart for Madurai via Trichy. On your arrival in Trichy,
we will be touring Trichy. The sites that will be covered
by you include the Srirangam Temple & Rockfort, Trichy's
most predominant and popular landmarks, which has a Temple,
perched on the outcrop of Rock. Then we move on to Madurai
where we will be spending the night.
Day 06 - Madurai
In the morning we will be paying a visit to Meenakshi
Sundareshwar that enjoys the distinction of being one of the
largest temple complexes in India built between the 16th and
18th centuries. Its grand gopurams towers over the city at
the heart of which it stands. The huge southern gopuram houses
as many as 1500 sculptures. The Temple Museum is at the 'thousand
- pillared hall' where each of the 985 pillars is exquisitely
and intricately carved with a lot of attention being paid
to the details. Leisurely afternoon followed by overnight
stay at hotel.
Day 07 - Madurai / Thekkady ( 136 km / 3 ½ hrs.
)
We depart for Thekkady in the early morning and check
in to the hotel after arrival. Our next stop over will be
the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary that provides asylum to a rich
and varied wildlife comprising of wild tuskers, bison and
spotted deer. In the evening you can look forward to having
a great time gliding on the beautiful Lake Periyar on boat.
Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 08 - Periyar / Cochin (190 km / 4 hrs)
After having breakfast we will be departing for Cochin
that is counted as one of the finest harbors on the Arabian
coastline. From time immemorial, the Arabs, British, Chinese,
Dutch and Portuguese have left indelible imprints on the history
and the development of Cochin. Its buildings and structures
are suggestive of the cosmopolitan character of the city.
A city of peninsulas and islands, today it is Kerala's commercial
hub. Overnight stay in the hotel in Cochin.
Day 09 - Cochin
The ninth morning of your Goa and South India Holiday
Package will find you taking a tour of this fascinating city.
We will be visiting the Dutch Palace whose construction is
credited to the Portuguese. The next stop over is the Jew
Town, followed by the 1568 Jewish Synagogue, spice market,
where the acrid smell of the spices pervades the air. You
would love every bit of what you see of the St. Francis' Church
and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening get a taste of Kerala's
art by enjoying a Kathakali performance. Overnight stay in
the hotel.
Day 10 - Cochin / Goa (by air)
Post breakfast departure to airport to board flight for
Goa, the most favored beach destination. The enchanting beaches,
a casual attitude, quaint homes & old churches, the Portuguese
tradition, flowing spirits, carnival atmosphere and amazing
seafood combines to gift you an ideal beach holiday package.
We will help you to check in to the hotel where you will be
spending the night.
Day 11 - Goa
This morning we embark on a tour of Old Goa, starting
with Basilica of Bom Jesus, Church of Se Cathedral and moving
on to the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and the church of
the Lady of Rosary Church. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 12 & Day 13- Goa
Soak up the spirit of Goa. Laze around at the golden beaches
or test your luck in the casinos. You simply can't get enough
of what Goa has to offer.
Day 14- Goa / Mumbai
It's once again time to wrap up the tour and we fly back
to Mumbai. We ensure your punctual transfer to the railway
station or the airport for your onward travel.
