At Colva Beach , there is The Church of Our Lady of Mercy(1581)
It is dedicated to Menino Jesus . this idol of infant Jesus
was brought form Mozambique by Father Bento Ferraira. It was
believed to have miraculous healing power. When it was shifted
to seminary at Rachol , it was said that the power also disappeared.
When the new idol was brought , the diamond ring of the original
idol was placed on it , now again the idol is said to cure
miseries.
This church is often visited by the tourists, come here during
the annual festival , the Fame of Menino Jesus in October
.
Colva Beach is at a distance of 40km from Panaji and the
Dabolim Airport is 69km away.There is a regular bus service
to Colva beach from Margao.
